PURPOSE

 

 

 

All FARO Services forklift operators need to be trained and certified to meet OSHA standards on forklift procedures and safety regulations. Our goal is to have a safe working environment in which the forklift operators will have the knowledge and experience in maintaining said goal and will participate in obtaining that goal.

 

 

 

SCOPE

 

 

 

The Forklift Training and Safety Procedures are to be used as tools for any and all forklift operators based out of FARO Services in Columbus, OH.

 

Any forklift certification license issued from FARO Services is only for FARO Services and it’s affiliated divisions.

 

 

 

PREREQUISITES

 

 

 

All forklift operators must be able to read and write in either English or Spanish. Each potential forklift operator will be given a class on proper usage and procedures for forklift operations. This will include a training video, a training manual, and upon finishing the class, a question and answer sheet.

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITY

 

 

 

The Forklift and Safety co-coordinator will train the forklift operators, and keep all records of the training and any other documents pertaining to forklift operations in each employee’s file folder.

 

 

 

PROCEDURE

 

 

 

All forklift operators will have to attend a forklift and safety-training class before work begins.

 

 

 

1)   The employee will first see a training video. Each person will be encouraged to take notes if he or she desires. (See SOP-003-01)

 

2)   Discussion on the film and a question & answer forum will follow

 

3)   The employee will familiarize himself or herself with the forklift checklist, which will be provided by trainer. (See SOP-003-02)

 

4)   An obstacle course will be used to train the employee. This will be for both stand up and sit down forklifts. Each employee will be graded on this. (See SOP003-03)

5)   The written test will then be given. This also will be graded. Once both tests have been evaluated and the forklift operator has passed, then that operator will be given a forklift certified license to be carried with them during working hours. (See SOP-003-04)

DEFINITIONS

 

 

 

Forklift checklist- Daily checklist to be used by everyone before getting on the forklift. Must be turned in at the beginning of the shift.

 

 

 

Forklift Operators- Anyone who drives a forklift.

 

 

 

Forklift Certification License- This license is to authorize the employee to operate a forklift. It is to be kept with them at all times during working hours.
