I have setup a network connection between the computer and the printer. The local network is a 192.168.100.0/24 No gateway was placed on the physical NIC card and to use the scanner the proper way to make sure it scans is to do the following

1) click on the Scanner Interface touch pad for options.
2) click on the scan bed icon
3) Make sure that scanning is listed as online

4) To access the scan from the computer open devices and printers
5) Oddly enough click on the MWILES icon in the devices at the top of the page. The scanner software opens
